Directions
From Sacramento - I5 / Highway 99 North To Chico
From I5, take Highway 99 North to Chico. Exit Highway 99 at Highway 32 turning left onto East 8th Street to and through downtown Chico. Continue west to Chestnut Street. Turn right on Chestnut Street and continue north for six blocks to West 2nd Street and the university.
From the Bay Area - I505 and I5 from the West to Chico
From I5, turn east on Hwy. 32 in Orland, stay on Hwy. 32 into Chico to West 2nd Street. Turn left on West 2nd Street and continue to the University.
From Redding/Red Bluff - Highway 99 South to Chico
From I5, take Hwy 99 south to Chico: Exit Hwy. 99 at Hwy. 32 turning right onto East 8th Street. For the downtown turn right on Main Street. For symposium, continue west to Chestnut Street. Turn right on Chestnut Street and continue north for six blocks to West 2nd Street and the University.
Parking
The University no longer provides free parking to Symposium attendees. Parking is available for $5.00 at any of the CSUC F/S or G parking lots (see campus map). Upon entering the lot, purchase a permit at the yellow ticket kiosk. You may also use any of the street parking south of campus (both free and metered). Regular school session is out during the Symposium, so street parking should be available.
Transportation
Airlines
The Sacramento International Airport (SMF) is the closest major airport. It is 90 miles south of Chico and is served by most major carriers. You can rent a car at the Sacramento Airport.
Train / Bus Service
AMTRAK and Greyhound Bus also have regular service into downtown Chico, although hours are limited.
The AMTRAK train depot is located at W. 5th and Orange Streets, telephone: 895-8000 or 800-872-7246. The train leaves twice daily at 3:06 a.m. southbound and 1:42 a.m. northbound. The San Joaquin is a combination train and bus ride that leaves Chico three times daily, all southbound at 9:25 a.m., 11:55 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. This service terminates in downtown Los Angeles.
